We meet every Tuesday, 7pm at the Mile End Climbing Wall and go to the pub at 9.30, when the wall closes. We also have a social every Thursday, 8pm at the Penderel's Oak pub, where you can meet members of the club.

3.Where can I get more info about the club and events?

For more information, please sign up to our mailing list, you should recieve a weekly email detailing all events and coming trips. You can sign up here.

4.Do you climb anywhere else?

We climb weekly at Mile End climbing wall, however we will be trialling Wednesday afternoons at the Castle climbing wall, more information will be sent to the mailing list.
We also climb outdoors near London on day climbs, and have monthly trips to crags in the Peak District, Snowdonia, Cornwall and other popular destinations.

5.Is there a social meet?

There is a social every Thursday at 8pm at the Penderel's Oak pub in High Holborn. The nearest tube stations are Holborn and Chancery Lane.
You should join the mailing list for other details about other events, such as pub crawls and trips to local attractions.

6.Can I come on a weekend trip?

Anyone who is a member of the ULMC can go on the trips. It is important to be part of the club as you will be covered by our BMC insurance. If you want to climb on the trips you’ll need to have been to Mile End at least twice so we know you know the basics.

7.When is the next weekend trip?

We have a trip every month, for dates of coming trips, see the home page. Details about signing up for trips are sent out in our weekly emails to the mailing list.

We have both hillwalking and climbing groups on every weekend trip depending on weather. We also climb indoors every week and organise frequent day walks and day climbs to areas near London at the weekend.

9.Do I have to climb?

No, not at all. We do a lot of both hillwalking and climbing. On our monthly trips, the group mainly splits into a walking and climbing group, so you can choose whichever you prefer.

No experience is required. All levels are welcome to join us at the climbing wall or on our trips. ULMC members are at the Mile End climbing wall every Tuesday evening and will be happy to help you.

11.Do I have to be a member to come climbing?

No, the climbing wall is open for all. But if you want to go on any of the weekend trips, then you will need to be a member as this covers your insurance.

Yes, the climbing wall offers a very reasonable student discount or discounted prices if you buy a certain number of sessions in advance. See the climbing wall's website for more information about prices.

13.How do I get a place on a weekend trip?

If you are part of our mailing list then you will receive regular emails about upcoming trips. When the trip list opens, be sure to email your name and pay £35 for the trip as soon as possible to guarantee your place. Prices for bank holiday trips are a bit more so please read your emails to double check this.

14.How do I pay for membership or weekend trips?

You can pay the club by cheque or cash, we cannot take bank transfers due to ULU rules. Cheques for membership should be made to ULU, and cheques for weekend trips should be made to ULMC.
