A series of walk near London, reached by train. Hence, no need to pre-book, just turn up at the time specified below.
You need to bring waterproofs in case it rains, packed lunch and some water to drink. Some places may be muddy so walking boots or old trainers are appropriate footwear. Smart shoes, flip-flops or denim jeans are not suitable.

We meet outside the ticket office at the station specified and also can be found sitting in the front carriage of the train. Ticket prices are from central London with a young persons' railcard. If you don't have one, add 50 %. If we can get a groupsave ticket prices will be slightly less. Also, if you have a London Underground season ticket or day travelcard, you can buy a ticket from its boundary saving more money.

Saturday 24th April 2010
Stone Farm Rocks, East Sussex.


Since it looks like we are going to be lucky with the weather, there will be a day climb this Saturday. The venue is Stone Farm Rocks a sandstone crag in Sussex. It is about an hours walk from East Grinstead rail station.
As the rock is quite soft you will need either rockshoes or light trainers to climb in. The climbing is toproping also due to the nature of the rock.
Everyone is welcome, beginners and experienced climbers alike, all you need is shoes (as above) some lunch and a train ticket. It's not necessary to sign up but, if you are inteding to go could you let me know at s.binnie@ucl.ac.uk so I know how much kit to bring.

Outward: 1023 London Victoria - East Grinstead
Return: When we get bored, or it starts raining.
Meet: 1000 at London Victoria (next to the ticket office)
Cost: £7.85 with a Young persons railcard



Saturday 10th October 2009
River Gade, Grand Union Canal, Cassiobury Park, Whippendell Wood, Harrocks Wood, Welling grove, and Beechengrove Wood


This Saturday a walk trough the woods, north of London. We shall start at Watford station, before walking along the River Gade and the Grand Union Canal through to the highly attractive woodland of Cassiobury Park, Whippendell Wood, Harrocks Wood, Welling grove, and Beechengrove Wood.
We'll have some lunch and then walk back to Watford. The total distance will be around 12 miles and will take around 5 hours. Some places will be muddy so walking boots or old trainers are appropriate footwear. Smart shoes, flip-flops or denim jeans are not suitable. You also need to bring a waterproof coat, a packed lunch and some water to drink.

Travel details:
Outward train: 9.45 from London Euston to Watford Junction
Return: Approx 4 or 5pm (there are many trains from Watford to Euston).
Cost: £5.60 for a cheap day return with a Young Persons Railcard.
Meet: In Euston station at 10:05, by the ticket office.
