About ULMC
|
|
ULMC can offer you the opportunity to participate in rock climbing, hill walking and scrambling. We cater for all levels of experience, you don't need to have any experience of the hills before.. We have weekly meets at the Mile End wall (Tuesday evenings 7.00pm - 9:30pm) where we generally complain about the grades, have a chat and even do some climbing. See the Mile End Wall website for more details. There are also weekly social meetings. These are usually held on Thursday evenings from ~8pm at the Penderel's Oak pub on High Holborn though every now and then we go to more esoteric venues. Check group emails for up-to-date info. Roughly every month we have weekend trips (Fri-Sun) to various 'mountainous' venues including North
Wales. Pembroke, Lake District, Peak District, Cornwall, Devon, Swanage, etc. See the home page, or our Facebook group for upcoming
trips. What it
costs ULMC membership
costs £12.50 per year. Weekend trips away cost £35 and
include transport, food and accommodation. The club provides
breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning, sandwiches for Saturday and
Sunday lunch and hot evening meal on Saturday night. Accomodation is
generally in huts owned by mountaineering clubs which are dry and get
warm. We usually do a few camping trips in summer only. What you
will need All you really
need to get started is a rucksack and a pair of boots suitable for hiking
in. This generally means something fairly sturdy that isn't
going to let too much water in. Some warm clothes and
waterproofs are also a good idea but the club does have a small
number of fleeces/waterproofs that you can borrow. Full
equipment list (for weekend trips)
